OLEAN, NY -
Jamestown Community College (JCC) eSports swept the week, going 2-0 in Super Smash Brothers and Overwatch 2.
Bretten Schreve led the Jayhawks in Super Smath Bros, taking a best-of-seven against the Northwest Arkansas Community College Eagles.
Schreve would look to run away with the series with wins in Games 1 through 3, but the Eagles would find a way to take Games 4 and 5 in close 3-2 decisions to extend the series.
However, Bretten would ultimately take Game 6 by a score of 3 knockouts to 1 to take the series by a score of 4-2.
With the win, Bretten ends the regular season with a record of 7-2, finishes in the Top 20 out of 238 teams, and will be participating in the postseason's single-elimination tournament.
His exact match day, time, and opponent are TBD.
The Jayhawks entered their last regular season match of Overwatch 2 against Northern Iowa Area Community College, looking to come out with a winning record.
JCC came out swinging and took a convincing Game 1 victory by a score of 2-0.
Drake Kavanagh led the Jayhawks with 16 assists in Game 1, while Seth Stevenson led the way with 25 eliminations.
Game 2 would look much the same in a 3-1 Jayhawks victory.
Drake had 16 eliminations and 13 assists while Christopher Lewis had 28 eliminations.
The Dirty Birds would close out the series with a 3-1 victory in Game 3, led by Charles Sisson's 27 eliminations and just 5 deaths.
Drake led the way in the assist department again with 18.
With the win, the Jayhawks end the regular season with a 4-2 record and will look to do some damage in the postseason.
Their exact match day, time, and opponent are still TBD.
