Spot Light Athlete

This week’s spotlight athlete is Howie Nolan, a sophomore member of our wrestling team. Howie picked JCC because it was local and close to home. He talked about how the coaches were a big reason why he decided to wrestle here because they were well-known to him, while in high school, the coaches were upperclassmen that he looked up to, so getting the chance to be coached by them was almost a "no-brainer".

When he’s not wrestling, his favorite thing to do on campus is to work out in the gym, he says that he really enjoys the facility, and that he enjoys working out here.

When it comes to college athletics and wrestling, he loves the competition and challenges that he faces, he enjoys that he has to challenge himself in order to get better and that it’s not something that can just come naturally. He loves the hard work that he has to put into it, “You can’t just go to practice and tournaments and not try,” he said, “You have to rely on yourself to succeed, since it isn’t exactly a team sport.” Howie also would like to continue wrestling once he continues his education, but he isn’t sure exactly where he wants to go yet.

As for other athletes, Nolan says, “Work hard every day and give it your all, if you fail, it doesn’t mean that you have to give up, it just means that you have to work harder at it and try again.”
