ITHACA — Cameron Page placed second in the 184-pound weight class at the New York State Collegiate Championships at Cornell University over the weekend to highlight a fine effort by the Jamestown Community College wrestlers.

Ranked second in the country among NJCAA wrestlers, Page lost in the finals to a Division I wrestler from the University of Buffalo.

"He looked really good," Jayhawks coach Kris Schimek said. "He (won via technical fall) against his first two opponents and then his third match in the semifinals he won 9-7 over a Division II wrestler from Long Island-Post. It was a tough match, he showed a lot of heart and toughness, and dug deep to pull out the win."

Meanwhile, Dan Torres (174) lost to the top-ranked junior college wrestler and ended up finishing fourth, while Nick Jones finished 2-2 at 285 pounds.

"We're pretty much through the hardest part of the schedule, which is good,"Schimek said. " Now we're going to see some more progression. Now there going to be ready to go."
