JAMESTOWN – After having a stellar weekend at the JCC Tri-Match, sophomore Taige Jones (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS) has been named the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week.

 

Jones, wrestling in the 133 pound weight class, picked up two wins this past weekend. In his first match, Jones made quick work of Jake Alberts of NCAA Division III Thiel College, picking up the fall in :25.

 

During his second match, Jones battled against Reese Vollmer of NCAA Division II Gannon University, needing overtime to get the victory. The two competitors were all squared up at 7-7 after three periods. In the one minute overtime, Jones got the takedown to help secure a 9-1 sudden victory-1 win.

 

On the season, Jones holds a record of 3-0.

 

This is Jones' first player of the week award this season.
