Jayhawks Place Five Wrestlers; Ewan Wins Defend the Lake Open

McHENRY, MD - Jamestown Community College made the drive down to Maryland for the Defend the Lake Open hosted by Garrett College and came home with all five wrestlers placing in the event. 

Nicholas Ewan led the way by winning the 149-pound class. Ewan went 2-0 on the day, winning in sudden victory to earn a spot in the finals. He then pinned his opponent to claim the top of the podium.

In 133lbs, Gavin Warner took third place. Warner finished the day with a 3-1 record, including a win in the third-place match to earn bronze.

Ryan Parton was able to lock down fourth at 141 lbs. The sophomore held a 3-2 record to secure a fourth-place finish.

At 165lbs, Brad Smith went 2-2, including winning the fifth-place matchup to secure a top-five finish.

Lastly, 174-pound Christian Hernandez took home sixth with a 1-3 record on the day.

Jamestown has a break in their schedule as they return to the mats on Saturday, November 23rd, for the NYS Collegiate Championships at Oneonta.
