Jayhawks Go 3-0 in WNYAC Action

JAMESTOWN – In their first Western New York Athletic Conference meet of the season, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team posted a perfect 3-0 record Wednesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (3-2, 3-0 WNYAC) defeated Genesee CC 105-34, Monroe CC 93-60, and Erie CC 108-35.

 

Overall, JCC placed first in seven events including five individual events. Lindsay Finch (Russell, PA/Eisenhower HS) placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 13:09.98. Finch also placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:27.05) and third in the 200 yard IM (2:57.82).

 

Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) had a solid night in the pool, finishing first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.88 which is new personal best. Fiebiger also placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 27.59 which is also a new personal best.

 

Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda HS), Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg Central), and Shannen Stein (Olean, NY/Portville Central) were the other Jayhawk swimmer to come away with first place finishes. Moppert posted a time of 2:17.40 in the 200 yard freestyle. Constantino placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.78, a new personal best. Stein placed first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.67, also a new personal best.

 

In relay action, the team of Stein, Constantino, Moppert, and Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parkstown HS for Girl) placed first in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:41.97. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Moppert, Fiebiger, Stein, and Constantino placed first with a time of 4:05.97.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, November 20th, as they travel to the Herkimer College Invitational. Meet set to start at 1 p.m.
