Jayhawks Win the Herkimer College Invitational

HERKIMER - Continuing their strong start to the season, the Jamestown Community College took first at the Herkimer College Invitational, scoring 268 points.

 

The Jayhawks (3-2) finished first in five events on the afternoon, including three individual events. Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda HS) tied for first in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:11.74. Moppert also placed third in the 200 yard IM (2:39.03) and fourth in the 200 yard freestyle (2:16.43).

 

Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg Central) also had a first place finish, coming in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.13. Constantino also had a third-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (2:16.19) and a fourth-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.97).

 

Shannen Stein (Olean, NY/Portville Central) was the other Jayhawk placing first in an event, coming in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.73. Stein also placed third in the 100 yard butterfly (1:17.52) and fourth in the 50 yard freestyle (29.07).

 

Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) was the swimmer who tied Moppert in the 100 yard butterfly with a new personal best in 1:11.75. Fiebiger also placed third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:16.71.

 

JCC started the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing with a time of 2:11.32. On the winning relay was Stein, Constantino, Fiebiger and Emily Lyons. JCC also finished first in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:25.61. On the relay was the team of Fiebiger, Moppert, Lindsay Finch (Russel, PA/Eisenhower HS), and Courtney Boardman (Lakewood, NY/Frewsburg HS).

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action on Saturday, December 4th, as they travel to the Genesee CC Invitational at 1 p.m.
