Jayhawks Capture WNYAC Crown

BUFFALO - Wrapping up their second-consecutive Western New York Athletic Conference title, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team goes a perfect 3-0 at the Erie Community College WNYAC Meet.

 

The Jayhawks (7-0, 6-0 WNYAC) defeated Monroe Community College 82-58, Genesee Community College 92.5-82.5, and Erie Community College 107-40.

 

Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) continues to rewrite the record books, this time breaking the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.58, breaking Christene Kuzmenski's record set back in 2017. Constantino also posted a time of 27.10 in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing second in the event.

 

Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda HS) finished first in the 200 yard IM, setting a new personal best with a time of 2:36.33. Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) also posted a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:21.77, also a new personal best. Shannen Stein (Olean, NY/Portville Central) rounds out the first-place finishers in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:43.73.

 

Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parktown HS for Girls) had a second-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (1:12.33) and set a new personal best in the 200 yard freestyle (2:23.44).

 

Emily Lyon (Panama, NY/Panama Central) posted two new personal bests, posting a time of 1:09.23 in the 100 yard freestyle and 1:31.37 in the 100 yard breaststroke. Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) also had a personal best on the evening, finishing with a time of 1:17.48 in the 100 yard freestyle.

 

The Jayhawks started the evening out with a first-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay as the team of Stein, Constantino, Fiebiger, and Moppert posted a time of 2:07.15.

 

The Jayhawks will be off until Saturday, February 12th, as they travel to Monroe Community College for the NJCAA Region 3 Championships.
