JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown Community College baseball team wrapped up their homestand against the Division II No. 23 Monroe Community College Tribunes Sunday afternoon, dropping a pair of games.

Games 1: Jamestown Community College 6 - No. 23 Monroe Community College 17

The Tribunes jumped out to an early 9-0 lead after the first two innings thanks to a seven-run second inning. The Jayhawks (5-8, 1-4 WNYAC) got their offense going in the third inning, scoring three runs.

Sophomore pitcher Billy Harmon (Racine, OH/Southern Local) got the party started with a three-run double, driving in freshman shortstop Ethan Abegg (Commerce City, CO/Prarie View HS), sophomore designated hitter Nick Rini (Powhatan, VA/Knock HS), and sophomore second baseman German Nolasco (Spring Hill, FL/Weeki Wachee HS).

Holding MCC at bay in the top of the fourth inning, Nolasco tacked on a two-run single to right field, driving in sophomore right fielder Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, WI/Mukwonago HS) and freshman center fielder Ayden Reagle (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) to make it 9-5. Rini added the last run of the inning, earning the walk with bases loaded, driving in Abegg.

The Tribunes would pull away late in the game, scoring eight runs in the last two innings of action.

Harmon earned the loss on the mound, pitching three innings and giving up five earned runs. The lineup of sophomore David Talkington (Allegany, PA/Port Allegany HS), freshman Bryan Gardner (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) and Reagle closed out the game on the mound.

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 2 - No. 23 Monroe Community College 14

The Jayhawks looked to flip the script in the second game of a double header and it looked promising in the first inning. Freshman third baseman Josh Lupo (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point HS) drove a ball to right field, bringing Abegg in to take the early 1-0 lead.

MCC answered in the second inning, scoring seven runs to take the 7-1 lead. Adding to his strong weekend, Hennessy got a hold of a ball down the center of the plate, going yard as it sailed over the right field fence.

The Tribunes were able to pull away over the next three innings, scoring seven unanswered runs.

To finish out his strong weekend, Hennessy added a triple in the fourth inning.

Sophomore pitcher Roberto Aracena (Miami, FL/Citi Christian Academy) earned the loss on the mound, going two innings while giving up six earned runs. Talkington came in to finish out the game, giving up two earned runs while on the bump.

The Jayhawks will be back home this Tuesday, April 20th, as they take on Finger Lakes Community College at 3 p.m.
