The Jayhawks flipped the switch in the second game, coming out aggressive as leadoff man Nate Johnson (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High) hit a double to get things going. After advancing over to third, Johnson stole home to give JCC the 1-0 lead after one inning.
After three innings of scoreless play, Gonzalez faced a 2-2 count with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and hit a triple to deep center field. The flood gates opened as the Jayhawks scored seven runs in the frame. Lucas Porpiglia (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) highlighted the scoring, hitting a three-run triple to right field to cap off the scoring.
JCC tacked one one more run in the sixth as Johnson hit his second double of the day and was brought home by an RBI-groundout by second baseman Zach Zulawski (Melbourne, FL/Viera HS).
The Cougars did make it interesting in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs.
