JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team earned a pair of wins over Tompkins Cortland Community College (TCCC) Tuesday night behind great pitching from sophomore Dylan Kinney and freshman Kolden McCall.
Game one saw Kinney throw all seven innings while allowing zero earned runs in a 3-1 JCC win. The Jayhawk pitcher only surrendered a pair of hits, with seven strikeouts. Jamestown took an early 1-0 lead when Luke Larson had an RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the second. The game was tied at 1-1 going into the 5th, where Yadiel Garcia put JCC up for good with an RBI single, and then Gabe Roth added insurance with an RBI single of his own. With his zero earned run performance, Kinney stays on top of the NJCAA record books with a .42 earned run average.
The Jamestown bats came to life in game two, scoring 15 runs to end the game in the 5th inning with a 15-1 win. McCall allowed a run in the top of the 1st and then was dominant, tossing five strong innings with five strikeouts. At the plate, JCC scored six runs in the 1st, four in the 2nd, three in the 3rd, and two in the 4th for the 15 total. Mitchell McKinney led the way with four RBI on two hits. Both Seth Ranieri and Cadyn Wilson knocked in three, Santino Musone and Larson each plated a pair, while Alton Will had an RBI.
The pair of wins improves JCC's overall record to 10-18 on the year.
Jamestown next takes the diamond at TCCC on Thursday, April 24th, with a 2:00 PM first pitch.
