JCC Baseball Splits Series to see Florida Record Move to 3-1

AUBURNDALE, FL - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team moved to 3-1 during their trip to the Sunshine State after splitting their doubleheader with Northland Community & Technical College inside the Lake Myrtle Park Baseball Complex on Wednesday evening.

The Jayhawks had to play comeback kids in game one. JCC grabbed an early lead off of a Santino Musone RBI single in the top of the first but then allowed a five-spot in the bottom half to see a 5-1 deficit after the 1st inning. Jamestown got one back in the 3rd on a Cadyn Wilson RBI to draw to within 5-2. That score held to the 6th when Jamestown put together its biggest inning of the season. First, Tamias Ramsey drove in a run with a single. He was followed by Jackson Shannon, who scored a pair with a single to even the game at 5-5. JCC took the lead back on another RBI from Musone to make it 6-5. The hit parade continued as Bryce Bedrosian drove in a pair to make it 8-5 for the Jayhawks. The runs didn't stop there; Ramsey came back to the plate for another run-scoring single, and then Shannon also added a run as he plated another to make it 10-7 Jamestown. Starting pitcher Julian Roman kept JCC in the game long enough for his offense to get going and take the lead. Matt Cardona came on in relief and secured the 10-9 win.

In game two, it was an uphill battle from the start. Jamestown allowed three runs in the top of the 1st to fall behind 3-0 quickly. The Jayhawks looked to rally once again by loading the bases in the bottom half of the frame but weren't able to push a run across home. Things went worse from there as JCC saw a six-run top of the 2nd put them in a 9-0 hole. That was followed by a pair of runs scoring in the top of the 3rd, which had the Jayhawks trailing 11-0. Jamestown got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd when Luke Larson was hit by a pitch with the bases full, giving JCC its 1st run in an 11-1 game. It was the same score in the bottom half of the 4th when JCC found life in their bats. Jackson Shannon stayed hot by flaring a single to right, knocking in a pair of Jayhawks to cut the deficit to 11-3. After that, Adam Kubera slapped a single to right, scoring two more for Jamestown, making it an 11-5 ball game. Larson found himself back at the dish with Kubera at second; the Arizona native didn't waste time smacking one down the left field line to send another across home for an 11-6 score. JCC couldn't close the gap any closer, as they allowed five more to drop game two, 16-6.

The Jayhawks have Thursday off before they resume play on Friday when they take on St. Cloud Technical & Community College for a doubleheader at Lake Myrtle Park Field 3 (Auburndale) with a 3:15 PM first pitch.
