Jayhawks' Bats Come to Life in Two-Game Series Split

AUBURNDALE, FL - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team continued its Florida trip on Friday with a doubleheader against St. Cloud Technical & Community College of Minnesota. Jamestown found its bats in the twin bill, scoring 26 runs as they split the pair of contests.

In game one, the Jayhawks put up an 18 spot, scoring early and often. Bryce Bedrosian started the RBI parade by knocking in a pair in the 2nd to make it 2-0. Adem Kubera followed that up with a sacrifice fly that scored Bedrosian. After that, Anthony Tolentino and Tyler Skura hit in a run each to make it 5-0 for the visitors on the scoreboard. Before the inning was over, Santino Musone found outfield grass to score two more for a seven-run inning for JCC. The runs continued in the 2nd as Skura drove in another for an 8-0 lead for the Jayhawks. Jamestown saw some a few fielding issues struck in the next couple of innings to have their lead cut to 8-6 heading into the 5th inning, but that's when they broke it back open with another RBI from Tolentino. After a Skura single scored, another Musone came to the plate with the bases loaded, and he cleared the bases with a triple to make it 13-6. Bedrosian tacked on another for a 15-6 edge for JCC. Jamestown went on to add three more thanks to Seth Ranieri, for your 18-6 final. Maple Grove's Kolden McCall earned the victory on the mound for the Jayhawks as their record in Florida moved to 4-1.

Game two had an opposite feel, with JCC playing catch-up most of the contest, as Jamestown fell behind 8-0 before they took the plate in the 3rd. Cadyn Wilson replaced the zero on the board for the Jayhawks with a 2-RBI single. The score remained 8-2 in the 4th, where Tolentino plated three with his double to see the score draw to 8-5. Jamestown allowed a pair in the 5th to see their deficit reach 10-5 heading into the 6th. The Jayhawks clawed back to within two off of an RBI base hit from Skura, then a two-RBI single from Angel Perez made it 10-8. That score held to the bottom of the 7th, where the Jayhawks got two on with no outs but couldn't push a run across the plate to see the final stay at 10-8.

The split moves Jamestown to 4-2 during their Florida trip. Jamestown finished off their series in the Sunshine State bright and early on Saturday, with a 9:30 AM first pitch against Northland Community & Technical College at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.
