AUBURNDALE, FL - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team returns from its Sunshine State swing with a 5-3 record, winning at least one game in each of their four doubleheaders. Jamestown finished up the tournament on Saturday with a twin bill versus Northland Community and Technical College.
The Jayhawks' bats caught fire in game one. Santino Musone started things off with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Angel Perez came up later in the inning and knocked in two more to make it 3-0. It was 3-2 in the 2nd when Tyler Skura plated a run with a single to make it 4-2. Luke Larson pushed the lead to 5-2 with an RBI in the 3rd. The 4th inning is when JCC really broke the game open. Musone, Jackson Shannon, Bryce Bedrosian, and Larson all pushed a run across home for a 9-2 edge. Emmanuel Rosario saw a pitch he loved and smacked in a two-run double for an 11-2 lead. It got even better for Jamestown after that, as Skura came to the dish with the bases loaded, and he deposited the offering to deep left-center for a grand slam and a 15-2 gap. Perez finished up the scoring with another RBI to make it a 16-2 lead for the Jayhawks. One more run was scored in the 5th inning for the final after five of 17-3.
Game two wasn't as good for the Jayhawks, with Northland scoring four in the 3rd and eight in the 2nd for a 12-0 JCC hole. The only scoring for Jamestown came off the bat of Angel Perez, who hit a home run to center for a highlight from the green and gold, but JCC ultimately lost 12-1.
The Jayhawks now turn their attention to regional play, with Finger Lakes Community College visiting Jamestown on Saturday, March 21st, at 1:00 PM.
