JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Santino Musone (Erie, PA/McDowell High School) is continuing his academic and athletic careers at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
"I chose Shepherd because I know I'm going to be playing good competition," said Musone. "The coaching staff has a reputation of success, and their alumni also have a reputation of success," added Musone.
The Erie native showed plenty of success during his time in the green and gold, earning First Team All-Conference, while breaking the JCC all-time career home run record (11) and homers for a season (9). Something he credits to the Jayhawks' dedication in the weight room.
"I think one of the most defining factors about the baseball program is the strength and conditioning program. Coach Tonks (Josh Tonkin) always made sure I was going 100% and doing it with good form," mentioned Musone.
Tino didn't just shine at the plate or on the mound; he also carried a 3.51 GPA during his sophomore season in Jamestown.
"I was able to excel through a more one-on-one approach with the smaller class sizes (at JCC). The teachers always made sure that I understood concepts when I asked for help," he said.
Musone also made his mark for the Jayhawks during their spring trip to Florida, racking up 16 strikeouts in his two starts, so it's no surprise that week is something he will remember fondly.
"My best memory has to be the Florida trip. What's better than vacation and baseball?" laughed Musone.
Which leads right into what he will miss the most about his time as a Jayhawk.
"My teammates. Since my freshman year I've made so many memories and friends on the team," said Santino.
Musone and the rest of the Shepherd Rams report for the 2026 season in August.
