JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Julian Roman (Buffalo, NY / Hutchinson Central Technical School) is staying in Western New York as he continues his academic and athletic careers at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY.
"I chose Hilbert because it's close to home and has an easy to navigate campus," said the Buffalo native.
Roman plans on majoring in business management while joining the Hawks baseball team, a jump he said was made easier by his time in the Jamestown classrooms.
"JCC helped prepare me by teaching me how to manage my time and prioritize what's important," said Roman.
The righty joined the Jayhawks for his sophomore season, where he quickly made an impact, going 4-1 on the mound while appearing in 12 games.
"Jayhawks' baseball helped me grow through all the practices and reps," mentioned Julian.
Roman showed his grit on the bump while JCC was on its Florida trip in March. His first start for JCC in the Sunshine State didn't begin as he would have hoped, giving up five runs in the 1st inning, but the sophomore buckled down and kept the Jayhawks in the game long enough for Jamestown to rally and win 10-9. Those van rides in Florida, and all season long, will stick with Julian for the rest of his life.
"My favorite memory as a Jayhawk was all the van rides with my teammates, and I'll miss the drives back and forth to school," said Roman.
Roman and his Hilbert Hawks teammates report for the 2026 season in August.
