Jayhawks Post Victory Over Broome, Run Record To 2-0

CORNING — The Jamestown Community College men's basketball team raised its record to 2-0 by downing Broome CC, 92-81, in the first round of the Corning CC Crossover Tournament on Saturday.

That means that JCC plays Corning CC at 1 p.m. today for the title.

D.J. Branch scored 12 of his 19 points and Germaine Wright added all nine of his points in the first half when the Jayhawks took a 43-32 lead. In the second half, Kenny Pitt tallied 13 of his 16 points and David Williams contributed 11 of his 13 points to keep Broome CC at bay.

JCC sank 28-of-49 foul shots while Broome CC made 27-of-41 charity tosses in the foul-plagued contest. Desmond Parker was the other Jayhawk in double figures. He finished with 11 points.

For Broome, Tron Smith recorded 20 points, Lucas Lacobucci had 16, Raheim Grant added 12 and Josh Harrington chipped in with10.

After the tournament today, JCC plays its next home game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against the Mercyhurst North East in a Region 3, Division II encounter.
