Jayhawks Can't Overcome Slow Second in Loss to Villa Maria

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team fought hard against four-year Villa Maria but fell 81-68. JCC kept it close at the beginning with help from behind the arc; Federico Foddai knocked down a three to make it a 14-12 deficit.

The hole would grow to double-digits before some more shooting brought Jamestown back close off a Tamir Barrant triple for a 21-19 road team.

Jayhawks went to the half down 33-24 but put up a battle against the juniors and seniors of Villa.

The Vikings would build a lead to begin the second off of sharp shooting from Juston Johnson, who scored a game-high 32.

JCC saw the score swell to 71-51 with help from a four-point play from Johnson.

The Jayhawks cut into that quickly on the back of Marcus Wynter, who finished with a team-high 22, with Jamestown down 73-61.

13 would be the final difference with JCC losing 81-68.

The loss sends them back to 4-11 on the year. Jamestown has one more game before break when they host Westchester Community College on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
