Jayhawks' Season Comes to a Close in Regional Semis

SANBORN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon with their 69-55 Region 3 semi-final loss to Monroe Community College hosted by SUNY Niagara.

Jamestown dug themselves an early hole, trailing 10-2 and 14-4 in the first quarter before closing the frame on a 4-2 run.

The second quarter wasn't much better for JCC; the Jayhawks lost the second quarter 18-11 to trail 34-19 at the break.

JCC found some deep shooting in the third quarter, connecting on three of six threes and tying those ten minutes 22-22. Freshman Mila Espinoza did most of the damage, scoring 12 of her game-high 27 in the third.

The Jayhawks would close the deficit in the fourth, but it was too little too late as they fell by 14.

Jamestown's loss pushes them back to 13-11 on the season and ends their run in the semifinals.
