JCC's Federico Foddai Continues his Basketball Career at University of Wisconsin-Superior

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Federico Foddai (Sassari, Italy / Convitto Nazionale Canopoleno) is continuing his academic and athletic careers at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he will major in Physical Education.

"I chose the University of Wisconsin-Superior because of its excellent physical education program and the opportunity to continue my athletic career," said Foddai. "I had a great conversation with the head coach, Greg Polkowski, and I believe he will help me get the best out of my abilities. The campus environment and community feel align perfectly with my personal and academic goals," the Italian finished.

The sophomore guard is coming off of a season where he earned second team All-Region while averaging 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the 2025-26 campaign.

"Playing basketball at JCC taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. The experiences I had on the court helped me grow as a player and as a person, instilling a strong work ethic that I will carry into my next chapter," mentioned Foddai.

As well as "Freddy" did on the court, he was even more impactful in the classroom. He carried a 4.0 GPA through his two years at JCC. Foddai is an Academic All-American and was named the Western New York Athletic Conference Male Academic Athlete of the Year for 2025-26.

"Jamestown Community College provided me with a solid foundation in physical education, equipping me with essential knowledge and skills," said Foddai. "The supportive faculty and engaging curriculum helped me develop critical thinking and practical experience that I can apply at the University of Wisconsin Superior," he added.

Despite what he accomplished as an individual, it is no surprise it's a team accomplishment that the JCC captain says will stick with him forever.

"My best memory as a Jayhawk was during the semifinals game when we beat SUNY Niagara," said Federico. "It was a significant moment because our head coach, Coach X (Xavier Churcac), hadn't beaten them in six years, if I'm not wrong. That victory was a huge relief and stands out as the best moment of my two years as a men's basketball Jayhawk," he said.

As for what he'll miss the most about his time as a Jayhawk.

"The close-knit community at JCC, the friendships I've built, and the incredible support from my coaches, my professors, my fellow students, and all the people that helped in these two wonderful years. To conclude, JCC truly felt like a family, and I will carry those memories with me," he said with a smile.

Foddai and his fellow Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets will start the 2026-27 season in November.
