Fennell Sets New Record; Jayhawks Remain In Third

ROCHESTER - In the second day of the 2022 NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving currently sit third with a point total of 219.

 

Cole Carlson (Boonsboro, MD/Southwestern High) paced the Jayhawks with a pair of third place finishes. Carlson finished with a time of 34.90 in the 50 yard backstroke and a new best in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:028.4. Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) also swam in the 200 yard freestyle with a new personal best with a time of 2:05.22.

 

The relay team of Carlson, Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central), Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High), and Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) placed third in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.78.

 

The second session finished with the relay team of Keyser, Fennell, Pantall, and Carlson finishing third in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:21.88.

 

In the third session, Fennell set a new school record in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:04.50 to finish fourth. Fennell also placed fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.72.

 

Pantall and Vanstrom placed fifth and sixth in the 500 yard freestyle with Pantall posting a time of 5:53.77 and Vanstrom swimming 6:10.78 in the event.

 

The relay team of Pantall, Fennell, Vanstrom, and Keyser placed third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.75.
