Jayhawks Place Ninth At Nationals

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team wrapped up the 2022 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championship Saturday evening, placing ninth with 119 points.

 

The duo of Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) and Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) had strong performances to end the week, capturing new best swims in the 1650. Pantall took 45 seconds off his previous time and finished with a time of 19:33.63. Vanstrom took nearly one minute off his previous best time, finishing with a time of 20:53.22.

 

Cole Carlson (Boonsboro, MD/Southwestern High) and Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) also posted new bests in the 100 yard freestyle. Carlson posted a time of 53.10 while Keyser posted a time of 53.50.

 

The Jayhawks closed up the weekend with the 400 yard freestyle relay with the team of Carlson, Vanstrom, Pantall, and Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) with an eighth-place finish. The team finished with a time of 3:39.29.
