WATERTOWN – The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team traveled north Saturday afternoon to face Jefferson Community College, falling 71-64.

 

The Jayhawks (7-7) were led offensively by guard D'Auzhanay Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) with 20 points while dishing out five assists. Destiny Evans (Peoria, IL/Lorain HS) had a big contribution coming off the bench, scoring 16 points while going 7-for-10 from the floor.

 

On the glass, Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) grabbed 17 rebounds (6 offense, 11 defense) with Kymi Nance (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds (4 offense, 6 defense). Hicks also added another five blocks on the year, her fifth game with five or more blocks this season.

 

The Cannoneers got out to a fast start, getting a 23-8 lead after one quarter of action. Jamestown flipped the script in the second quarter of play, outscoring Jefferson 23-11 to go into halftime down 34-31.

 

Jamestown went 20-for-58 (34.5 percent) from the field with Jefferson going 23-for-71 (32.4 percent) from the floor. The Jayhawks had control of the boards, out rebounding the Cannoneers 47-36.

 

The Jayhawks will have a quick turnaround as they face Herkimer College tomorrow for a 10:30 a.m. tip.
