Jayhawks Gearing Up For Regionals

Jayhawks Gearing Up For Regionals

JAMESTOWN – Looking to build upon the regular season, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team will begin their postseason journey this weekend at the NJCAA Region 3 Championships.

The Jayhawks have shown flashes throughout the season, picking up a pair of victories over Erie Community College and being edged out by the University of Pitt-Bradford by eight points back in December.

JCC has also fared well with invitational meets, finishing third in both the JCC December Invitational and JCC January Invitational.

"Overall we are looking for each guy to go out there and compete well," said head coach Todd Conklin. "This is another opportunity to go out there and improve on their times for seedings for the national tournament. Looking for really good success this weekend and carry that to nationals."

The Jayhawks have had great swims from both Cole Carlson (Boonsboro, MD/Southwestern High) and Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) as they have both been named NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week once each on the year.

The team will also look to the veteran leadership of Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School), Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS), and Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) to have a big weekend.

The Jayhawks will compete in Session 1 on Friday evening at 6 p.m. with Session 2 and Session 3 happening on Saturday. Regionals will wrap up on Sunday at 10 a.m. All the action will happen at the Aquatics Center on the campus of Monroe Community College.
