Jayhawks In Third After Day One Of Regionals

ROCHESTER - After Session 1 of the NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships, the Jamestown Community College women's team currently sits in third place with a team score of 81.

 

Leading the flock for the Jayhawks, Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII) found the podium in the 50 yard breaststroke with a third place finish, setting a new personal best with a time of 31.80.

 

Cole Carlson (Boonsboro, MD/Southwestern High) also had a third place finish coming in the 50 yard freestyle with a personal best of 24.06. Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) also found the podium in the event, placing sixth with a new best of 24.87.

 

Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) rounds out the third-place finishes for JCC, this one coming in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:10.89. Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) also found the podium in the event, finishing with a time of 12:53.85.

 

The Jayhawks closed the night in the 800 yard freestyle relay as the team of Pantall, Vanstrom, Keyser, and Carlson finished second with a time of 8:38.03.

 

Action will resume tomorrow with Session 2 starting at 10 a.m. and Session 3 starting at 6 p.m.
