JCC Falls Just Short of Regional Title

ROCHESTER, NY - The Jamestown Communith College (JCC) men's basketball team accomplished something JCC hasn't seen in a decade: reach the Region 3 tournament championship game. Jamestown made it to the title tilt against Monroe Community College (MCC) after they knocked off SUNY Niagara 89-85 in the regional semis on Saturday.

JCC earned that victory thanks to six Jayhawks scoring in double figures, including Marcus Wynter (20 and ten assists), Jodan Wright (17), Aiden Penchion (15), Naeem Richardson (12), Keyvone Craig (12), and Federico Foddai (10).

The Jayhawks took the lead over Niagara at 22-19 in the first half and never looked back en route to the four-point win. That set up the date with MCC on their home court for the regional championship on Sunday afternoon.

Jamestown fought hard for all forty minutes in the 80-69 loss, trailing by just three at the break, down 37-34.

The Jayhawks drew to within four halfway through the second half on a Craig three-pointer to make it 49-45. The sophomore led JCC with 20 points.

After Monroe opened its advantage to ten, JCC had an answer from another sophomore in Foddai, who hit a jumper, followed by another Craig triple, and Jamestown was only down a pair, 63-61, with 6:08 to play.

That was as close as the Jayhawks could get before ultimately falling by 11.

JCC finished the season with a 13-12 record, the first time they've had a winning record since the 2016-17 season.
