Experienced Group Leads JCC Soccer in 2024

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College men's soccer team is looking to rely more on TEAM this year, not just the word, the acronym "Together Everyone Achieves More." In 2023, JCC advanced to the semifinals of Region 3 before bowing out, and this year's squad believes togetherness will be a key component to advancing further. "It's the finer details. It is more than just training. It is the boys getting together in the dorms, swimming pool, and recovering together. It is the little bits that will take us further this season," said captain Mohamadu Bah.

The bonding shouldn't be too difficult for the Jayhawks; the 2024 version returns 14 players from a season ago. With that much experience returning, the expectations are high. "I think we can make it to the semifinals again. It is a tough region to get past semis, but I think we can do it again," said sophomore Dan Towell.

To reach that success, one player JCC will rely heavily on is David Luque. The forward scored 13 goals in 2023, good enough for the second most in a single season in Jayhawks history. The Spaniard has high expectations for himself and the team: "I want to break every record after a good freshman season. I want us to win every game that we play. The most important thing for me is for the team to win; that would be great," said Luque.

Aside from the 14 returners, Jamestown also has 14 freshman joining the fold. This group spans the globe, with players not only from Chautauqua County, but from as far away as Ireland, South Africa, France, Spain, and beyond.

The Jayhawks have one request from fans in 2024: "I hope people come out and support us for our home games. We have ten this year. We will take it from there," added Bah.

The first chance to see JCC at home is Monday, August 26th, at 4:00 PM, when they host Gannon.
